T-shirt Quilt Craft

Did I mention that I’m a GIANT clutterbug?  Years of moving and having to get rid of things because we needed to meet the weight limit left me with a compulsion to hold on to EVERYTHING just in case…

So when my husband was going to donate his old college t-shirts I grabbed them and put them in a really tall pile for “pj shirts”.  I haven’t touched them since.  I didn’t want them to disappear because they remind me of when we met in college and they are fun and quirky… good memories I didn’t want to toss – even though they are just t-shirts and they have served their purpose.

So, husband willing, I’m going to turn them into a fun and quirky t-shirt quilt for his office/media room (we keep bringing blinkets from other rooms in there… why not let it have it’s own right?)

Meandering the internet this morning I came across this website with templates for interesting paper crafts… PaperScrapz  There is a cute little basket that has officially saved me all the space I would have put aside for “cute little baskets” used on the very rare occasion.  I have SO MUCH PAPER but limited space so… yeah!

Ok – I haven’t posted in a while… my brain has been off in a tailspin thinking about how to restructure our living room/house … and since we’re trying to do it on the cheap – I thought I would look into making my own baskets for the IKEA shelves I plan of using as serious SERIOUS storage/organizational space.

Especially since we’re considering having another kiddo in the near future I want all those awesome young kid toys available but not cluttering up the living space in the house.  I also want all the books and movies available for our almost 3 year old to reach.

We’ve got 2 Expedit 2×4 shelving units and a bookshelf available for space and I plan on utilizing them as much as possible while still making the house look pretty and uncluttered (good luck to me right?)

I’m Back! New Category and Goal!

Hey-yo all, I’m back.  I know… I tapered off there for a minute, but I’m back and we’re going to keep this bad boy going…

This morning I was considering that Christmas is coming up, and with Christmas comes additional toys… and with more toys comes… more storage solution issues.

I have ALWAYS wanted to be one of those people with the clean house and a neat and tidy place for everything… but when it comes down to it, money concerns and the fact that we have a constant influx of new toys/gear/stuff for our almost 3 year old is slightly preventative to that goal.  Especially considering that we keep ALL our toys for the prospective new addition we may have some day.

Fortunately for me, my husband has seemingly relinquished the “bonus” room in our house to my greater design authority… and, as a result, I will be turning it into a GIANT playroom!  It’s a converted 2 car garage… giant space!  Which is GREAT since we have spoiled our daughter relentlessly with stuff we always wanted as kids… and the cottage in our living room is kinda a space sucker.  Seriously… we have a house within our house… house inception!

Anyways – with all the toys and a need to keep it all contained somehow – I’m starting a new series… ORGANIZED HOUSE.  Hopefully, ideas listed here can help you brainstorm different ways to stay organized with your own kiddos/home.
