SLASH! The new word?

Ok – I just ran across this article and I’ve got to say… I’m a little confused.  I have used the “/” pretty liberally for an English major in correspondence and in daily speech – but NEVER did I imagine I would use it in it’s written “word” form!

The traditionalist in me is yelling against the change.  Not it’s expanded use and definition in speech, but it’s use in it’s “word” form instead of just “/”.  Oi.
