Today is a B-E-A-UTIFUL day and in the spirit of the day I present you with an outdoor activity that is both family friendly and hardcore: Geocaching!
I was introduced by my Dad, who got bit by the Geocaching bug and has slowly but surely converted the ENTIRE family into cachers. Geocaching.com says: “GEOCACHING is a free real-world outdoor treasure hunt. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using a smartphone or GPS and can then share their experiences online.”
I find it to be a great way to get out and have an adventure with my daughter. She likes to refer to it as “hunting for treasure” and whether or not we find the cache, we always manage to find bugs, frogs or sticks to look at or take home.
You can join Geocaching.com and get a premium membership for $30/year or you can opt for the limited caches (there are a ton) and play for free. No need to buy a GPS because there are apps for your phone … and honestly, when toting a 2 year old, a phone and local park are all you need! 😀
